Get cash by converting your water system to water-conserving alternatives.
Are you ready to transform your lawn, save water, and earn extra cash? That’s what the Cash for Grass rebate program is all about. This new program is promoted by the Sacramento County Water Agency (SCWA) and the Placer County Water Agency (PCWA). It is a voluntary program that aims to give incentives to qualified residential and commercial customers for converting existing grass and sprinkler irrigation systems to water-conserving alternatives. Let’s explore some details of this eco-friendly program.
- What is the Cash for Grass Rebate Program? This program gives rebates for converting existing grass or sprinkler irrigation systems to drip irrigation with native and drought-tolerant landscaping. This aims to convert water-thirsty lawns to water-efficient landscaping.
“It is a program aiming to give incentives to qualified customers for converting existing grass and sprinkler irrigation systems to water-conserving alternatives. ”
- How much rebate can I get?
- SCWA residential customers can receive $1 per square foot, up to $2,000 per household. While commercial or industrial customers can receive $1.50 per square foot, up to $2,500.
- PCWA residential customers can receive up to $3,000, and commercial customers receive up to $15,000 at a rate of $3 per square foot.
- How do I qualify for the program? To qualify for the program, you must be a customer of either SCWA or PCWA and meet their specific requirements. You can access their detailed list of requirements on the SCWA and PCWA websites, or you can call us at (916) 547-3615 for more information.
It is important to note that the Cash for Grass program is not retroactive. Projects that have already begun or been completed before application approval are not eligible for the rebate. That’s why interested parties should first receive approval before starting any lawn conversion work.
